****I received this copy in exchange for an honest review.****

I found this story really interesting and really liked it.

The only thing that bothered me was how the story starts. It just seemed abrupt. I didn’t really see any other thing I didn’t like.

I really liked the plot, characters and story. This was an awesome idea for the main character (Kylie) to own a magazine company. That sounds like that would be fascinating and extremely rewarding. It would be a fun career to have and very creative. Just like Nick’s is as a graphic designer for the company.

The man seemed like a natural submissive, even though he admitted he never submitted before. Some people are just a natural and don’t know it. Just like Kylie didn’t realize she would ever like to dominate but she did. These two seemed like a great pair together. Will they stay together? Come click the buy button to enjoy the journey these two go through together to see what happens.

4 Stars.

Current Read: TWO HEARTS SURRENDERED (Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Book 1) by Tamara Ferguson

Alright, so we are going to be currently reading this for the lovely Author Tamara Ferguson. I have been contacting her and another Author through email. They  would like both of us to review the books they give us. So this is the book we will start off with.  Also it was just entered for a book award.

Since my mom hasn’t posted on here in awhile and hasn’t done a review on here yet… I figured this could be her first review that she posts on here.

I thought that this book was really good. This is a m/m romance so if you are not okay with that then don’t read it! You should though because it was sweet, funny and had plenty of steamy scenes between the two main characters Danny and Mace. The characters are absolutely hilarious. All of them. Danny is artistic and works for his friends bakery and makes the decorations for everything in the bakery. The bakery is called ‘Delicious’ which I thought was genius in itself.

He goes to the park to try to do new sketches for the bakery and runs into Mace. Both are fascinated with each other and it goes on from there. I don’t want to spoil anything but they are cute. I really enjoyed that Mace was really interested into flowers because I am as well. I also sketch as well so I love love love this book. If you like nature and all things with art this is a must read. I plan on reading more from this author for sure.

This is one of my favorite m/m books because it has everything in it. I really recommend reading it at some point because it is an absolute gem!

5 stars!!!

**** I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. ****

I don’t think I have read a sports romance on baseball so I was excited to see how I would like it. I was pleasantly surprised because I don’t consider myself a sports fan. I don’t know much about the sport either and I was delighted that it actually told some of the inner dynamics of how a baseball game is played. The book told how the catcher works with the pitcher and gives the hand signals between his legs and behind his glove away from the players eyes to keep the move secret. It told how the catcher is basically the eyes for the pitcher and how he studies the players to see their weakness and strengths so he knows what signals to send to the pitcher so the pitcher knows what type of ball to throw and what direction to throw it.

I thought that was absolutely intriguing to read about since I had no idea about the game. It made me look at baseball in another light and I think that it is kind of captivating now and I will definitely watch the next game that comes on now that I know something about it.

Now about the characters, I really like how loyal both Todd and Katrina are to their families and their jobs. They work really hard at their jobs even when problems come up and people don’t quite get along they still stuck around and that is very admirable. These characters are strong, despite all the obstacles they faced together and separately they still persevered.

There were plenty of twists and turns in this book that I didn’t see coming and I was shocked by them. Some had me gasping and clutching my reading device like, “what…”. It had some intense moments that I loved, but you, my friend, will have to read those for yourself to find them out.

****I was given an Advanced Copy of this book for an honest review. ****

This book is about two characters, each with a past, both have their own secrets.

Sometimes all you need to get out of a bad situation is a little sliver of light, a little hope to give you that nudge.

Sometimes you try to make up for your mistakes in the dark when everyone will heal better if it is done out in the open, including yourself.

Sometimes a big quiet place is right where two troubled people need to be to heal, grow and make new memories.

And sometimes being wrecked isn’t so bad.

I gave this book 3 stars.

The book started off a little slower than I liked and I at first didn’t know if I would be able to finish it, but I kept going because I just KNEW it was going to be good. I was absolutely right. Once I got past the part of her regular days as a art installer, the mysterious playing cards came along with the weird phone calls.

After that it was like a domino effect, more and more things were happening and before you knew it she was in the middle of constant action keeping you at the edge of your seat. The mystery of it all is so intriguing I wanted to keep pulling on the thread until everything unraveled before me and I knew everything. I devoured the book because I wanted to figure out the riddles before Ace did. It was like I was being drawn in by a predator except for I totally wanted this to happen and I willing went towards said lion. The lure of trying to figure out what the pasts were of both Rei and Ki was also another pull for me like a magnet. Reading this book and finishing it was inevitable.

Some of the events that happened in this were definitely shocking to put lightly but I thoroughly enjoyed them. I think anyone would be foolish to turn away from a book such as this one when it was crafted with such originality. Plus the Japanese and American cultures shown in here are just spectacular. The ending left me like “but what about…..?” Then I remembered that I had part 2 in a email and then I didn’t fuss as much but still it will make you do the same. You’ll just want more and won’t know what to do with yourself until you can get your next helping. Well my advice is to read the intercept of part 2 a couple of times and somehow get ahold of the author because otherwise you, my friend, have a bit to wait for part 2.

I gave this a 4 out of 5 stars.

Alright, so first off before we went to this in New Orleans, Louisiana I got business cards for the blog. Instead of going online for the business cards I went to my local Lithograph Shop and was not disappointed. I love absolutely love them! I got them just in time to take them on the trip and my twitter followers actually got to see the card before anyone else, sorry guys. Here is a picture of it on top of my nook. I sketched the book that is on the card if you’re wondering. It was a little doodle I did that I really liked and decided it would be cool to put on the card. It is also the picture for the blog ( which is the original drawing).

Anyways, I got to hand out the cards to each author at the event and I was super excited about it because they said they would give me some Advanced Reader Copies through the email.  Which by the way, I did get a physical Advanced Reader Copy right after I gave the author my card and she signed it! It was awesome! Her name is Yessi Smith and she is a sweetheart. I got to pick which book I wanted to review and if I wanted it in ebook form or physical form. Of course, I said physical form because I thought it would be cool for her to sign the review copy. So this is the book I get to read and review for you guys! I’m really excited about it too! Can you tell? Doesn’t the cover just grab you?!

Since our TBR List is off the charts my mom and I decided that we should take it easy on buying books there. So we were really good and behaved well. I bought two books and my mom didn’t even buy any but she did buy a cup. Although, I did buy a power bank from the author Tamara McHatton for my phone on the ride home and she gave me an extra pink pen with it. So I thought I would share with you the two books that I got from there. Forever Lost is about a vampire and a human (mf).  Jake Forbidden is about a shifter and a human which is Kathi S. Barton’s first mm book.

Like I said in the post before there were 35 authors that went but I only saw about 21 of them and it was through the speed dating part that was from 9 to 11 am. So we didn’t have a lot of time with each author but it was a really cool way to do part of the book event. There was a lunch break and then the book signing part.

V.A. Dold was the author that put the event together and announced when everyone had to switch tables to the next author. This also meant that we got a considerable amount of swag and it also meant that either we take a lot of pictures or we don’t include all the swag we got so we compromised for you guys. We took pictures of some swag from multiple authors together and then my mom will also post pictures of the swag she got.

This way it won’t seem like this post has so many pictures of the swag that we got because there is a lot of it and it is spectacularly unique. 🙂

Amber and I went back to the book signing but since my mom and her mom were sick, they just stayed at the hotel to rest. So we went around the tables again and talked with them.

So here is the first mixture of swag, it is from Brenda Hunt ( upper lefthand corner), to the right is swag from Kathi S. Barton and to the bottom left is the swag from Diana Marie DuBois.

Brenda Hunt’s swag shows a flower bag which she made, along with the two bookmarks. The cards there in the picture are about her Historical Romance Moonstone Series that came in that pocket that is attached to the notebook there.

Kathi S. Barton’s swag is a reusable bag, a business card,a  green pen. a blue notepad with her publisher’s name on it and a really nice mini calendar and sticky note holder made of leather. Her books are about different types of shifters, and she just recently came out with an MM shifter book for the first time. Which is one of the books I bought and showed above.

Diana Marie DuBois swag is a little orange voodoo doll with button eyes, a pen, a business card, hand sanitizer, a chapstick,a magnet and a homemade praline. The reason for Diana giving out little voodoo dolls is because everything she writes about has voodoo in it along with dogs and sometimes cats. If you look closer to her business card you can see it on there, the dogs, I mean. Oh and she really does have bright pink hair like on her business card and it’s awesome.

So this swag in the picture is from Heather Warren-Shepherd only. It is a quote from her book Gunpowder and Lead which is a romance but also about line dancing. I would have bought this but the book wasn’t out yet to buy at the book event. We got a necklace that matches the one on the card, it even has the two charms. She actually did research with a professional line-dancing league to help her write the book.

The last picture of swag for the post is by Evelyn Lederman only. It has her Nightshade Vampire Saga cards in it. She said there are twists to their world but did not say what those were. The Saga order goes Nightside, Feral, then after that Lethal. She gave a koozie, a hand gripper, a business card and a kitkat.

**** I got an Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for an honest review. ****

In the collection, Whispers are like a genetic mutation, but since it is medieval times they are like their own race.  During that time not a lot of knowledge was known of genetic mutation. I thought that to have that in a medieval time frame was pure genius. I have never read anything like it,  with that type of mutation …so that was thought provoking and incredibly fresh.

The whole idea and concept behind being a ring is really interesting and special. It is a relationship, and marriage between three people with at least one Whisper. The concept also reminds me of a contract between a dominate and a submissive in BDSM. It is complicated but in a rather beautiful way and I don’t want to say any more so I don’t spoil it.

I feel like as soon as I started reading I got rather attached to Josselyn rather quickly. I felt for her when things happened. There were some twists and turns along the way and I don’t know who was more shocked and upset, her or I. I can’t believe she was treated the way she was. I misjudged certain characters thinking that they were something that they were not then at the end turned my opinion around about them completely. I originally hated the one of the two and liked the other. While at the end of the book I hated the one character with a passion and loved the other with just as much passion. Funny how things work like that. All because of how they treated Miss Josselyn.

I even talked to the Author about those two characters because she was curious to see what I thought of them at the end of the book and if my opinions of them changed. Which, they had because I got to see more of their true characters and I didn’t need to see which character was a good person and which wasn’t. I won’t name those two characters because it will be up to you to find out who those two are by reading the book and then commenting below. This is a great book and if you want to be taken into a new world that is set in medieval times where all is not what it seems then this is the book for you.

Now a little something extra and new that I’ve never done before, but wanted to try.

I wanted to try something new and it involves the talented Marlena Mozgawa who did the book cover and some other cover art for lovely Author Catherine LaCroix. I am really excited to show the art that Marlena did for Catherine for the first book here and I will link her website so you can see her other work. Let me tell you all of her work is amazing. Her portfolio is pretty bad ass and I don’t know how you can be happy with yourself if you don’t go and look after this. She is a  portrait artist and illustrator that does freelance and is based in Poland. You can contact her through her website and follow her with these links: (These links are directly from her website!)

The Mother Tongue — Even The Name

For the most part, I’m going to focus on books that have been released within the past year for my reviews, but I will recommend some older books for you from time to time. For example, my first book recommendation for you was published in 1990. The Mother Tongue by Bill Bryson is as old as […]

via The Mother Tongue — The Literate Meerkat

The name of the book is fascinating in itself. So intriguing, makes me want to know the secret of why the title was chosen.

Also as soon as she said she laughed the whole time while reading it, I’m like I need to read it too!!

Plus she mention Professor Binns. Say no more, my friend, say no more. 🙂
