It’s Complicated-

************* I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book and this did not sway my opinion in any way possible. *************

This is the second book that I have read by this author and I have to say that I didn’t like it as much as I liked Dash. There just felt like something was missing for me in the book. Don’t get me wrong I really did like it, it was GOOD but I was irritated with how quick the romance went I guess. It was also kind of like Erin forgot herself and she didn’t seem to check up on her family much but the plot was good. I was also irritated with Vance’s co-star and Danny. Both of them just ticked me off to no end but Linda was just being a drama queen and Danny was jealous. Still let’s not go after people because you are a drama queen and can’t get your way. I wanted to flick her in the forehead and tell her to get the F over it FFS. Danny was so jealous of Vance that he forced himself on Erin and just ugh she should have smacked him, I would have. Makes me wonder how people deal with being in show biz, I would just be snapping at people and giving them a piece of my mind all the time. That would drive me nuts…..

So the coolest part of the book I would say would be when they were on the sets and shooting the scenes. The way that part was wrote was brilliant and made the book really interesting. It was kind of cool reading a behind the scenes book like that and it made you feel like you were right there. The western sets sounded really cool too ! Oh and the movie that the characters were shooting was pretty intriguing. It was like I was reading a book about a movie about a book.

I am giving this book 3 stars and it is really hard for me to do. So I guess I have a really hard time reviewing this book when it was so awesome but I still felt like something was missing. I still can’t seem to figure out what that is because this book is great. Talk about being in between a rock and a hard place.

Massive Ebook Haul

Ya’ll ready for this? When I say massive I mean over 15 ebooks. I went a little overboard but… a lot of them were free or on sale so no regrets here. I just can’t seem to not want to fill up my Amazon account. #GUILTYASCHARGED Well at least if the books are digital, then I don’t have to worry about where I can put them. So without further ado let’s get right into showing these puppies!

Yes just yes.gif

Sorry, I had to put some Pitch Perfect humor in here somewhere. 😀

And When I Get That Feeling…-

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

As soon as I saw the blurb for the book I knew that there would be times where I would be laughing at what the characters said and did and boy was I right. Blake and Chloe not only have sparks flying when they are around each other but they are also hilarious together. Between him not wanting to change his ways at first because he’s cocky as all get out and her being a spitfire “this is my way or the highway” attitude as well this is just a must read.

Like I said the chemistry is combustible, like women losing their panties across America. There are some really sweet moments as well. I just loved this book and it just happens to be the first one I have read by this author, well done!!! Oh and I own Lip Service but I have yet to read it and now I really really want to read it soon after I finish reading my other ARC reads. Because WOW.

I gave this book 5 stars.

Thank you for reading this review of my ebook ARC I received from BookSprout! I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it! 😀

Heat With Heart-

************ I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book and this did not sway my opinion in any way possible. *************

This was the first book that I read by this author and I was really excited to review it because I love reading new authors and it sounded good. As soon as I started reading it I was sucked in from the beginning. I wanted to know who Dash was and why he was running and what on earth he thought he needed to find. I also found it fascinating that he ran away from his career and life and wanted no part of it. I had to keep reading to find these things out it was killing me.

I also wanted to learn more about Ellie and her past and was hoping and rooting for her and Dash the whole way. There were many times when I laughed while reading this and then there were times when I was yelling at the characters. I seriously thought that Bobby, his friends and father were dicks and they were the reasons I would yell at the book and characters. If I could have reached through my kindle app I would have beat some sense into them. I am not a violent person but seriously. If someone should be punched in the face, it should be them.

Anyway……..There were some incredibly sweet moments throughout the book that were just adorable. Some of the memories are just so stinking cute I could almost picture them playing as a movie in my head. They were some of my favorite parts of the book.

Okay now for the steam scenes. These happened throughout the book, they involved wobbly legs, bedroom eyes, sweat and “hungry like the wolf grins”. That is all I am going to give because if you want to see how hot they’re together then, you’ll have to read it yourself. Seriously. I don’t know what you’re waiting for. Just get the book already.

I gave this book 5 stars if you didn’t already guess.

-What A Monday-

**** I received this book in exchange for an honest review. ****

As soon as I started reading it, the main character’s first thought made me laugh and I knew that this book was going to be hilarious. Not to mention I was extremely envious of the food mentioned in the book. She goes from being a food critic reviewing restaurants to a restaurant consultant for one place all in a matter of weeks. A twist of events makes it to where one of the restaurants she gave a bad review for is who she is consulting for to rebuild the reputation back up.

Which is where Jonathan comes in, so she has to go in as undercover and the charade begins. They start working together and things heat up and he opens up and shares his multiple dishes. I wanted to try every dish that was mentioned from Jonathan’s menu because it all sounded so good. I honestly can’t remember the last time I read something so light hearted and funny that had some spice with it. Between the laughter, the heat in the kitchen and the heat in the bedroom this book is a great find.

I gave this book 5 stars.

Two ARCs: Soon To Be Reviewed Via BookSprout

So I found these two babies via BookSprout today through my email that I got on the 23rd. I don’t know how I missed the email when it was marked important because it was about books, but hey it happens.  I have also never even heard of BookSprout before so I find that odd, since I am not a sheltered bookworm. I don’t understand how I haven’t come across it until now, but okay????

Anyways… let us get on with the fun part by naming the two ARC ebooks I am going to be reading in this short amount of time.

The first book is Fake Fiancé by Jessa James.

The review for this ARC is due on Aug. 31st.

Fake Fiancé by [James, Jessa]

The Second ARC book is The Haunting of RedRise House: Ghosts and Haunted Houses by Caroline Clark.
The review for this ARC is due on Sept. 4th.
The Haunting of RedRise House: Ghosts and Haunted Houses by [Clark, Caroline]

I will be posting the reviews on here the day the ARC reviews are due.

Thank you for reading my post and let me know if any of you have ever heard of BookSprout. Or used it before.  Do you like it? Not so much? What are your thoughts? Comment below…

It Just Happens-

I read this as in high school as it was part of an english assignment we had to do my sophomore year. So I am forever grateful that it was a part of the curriculum. I am not sure that I would have found it otherwise and that saddens me because it is one of my favorite books of all time.  The book is about two stories that are connected. One part is of a man in a tribe in the center of Nigeria and another is where European missionaries come along to his tribe and deconstruct his world.

Throughout the book it talks about how society is and how man is and how tradition is and how different their cultures are. Things Fall Apart also talks about when some groups or cultures are stronger than others, they just  take over and things get changed and life moves on. Or as others say “things fall apart” if you don’t quite want to go with how things are changing.

The book makes you think, makes you angry, it just makes you want to do things because it doesn’t end the way you want it to. This is a controversial book that is heartbreakingly tragic but is beautiful anyway because it just seems more realistic that way.  I am surprised every time I read the book on how powerful the words feel. It almost feels like that world I am reading of is real and I am there, watching.

I gave this 5 stars, of course.

Three Books That Will Break Your Heart, But Help You Grieve

So I know I just did a whammy of a title but that is what these three books did to me so I decided that why not have a title like that? I mean let’s be truthful here. Everyone has lost someone in some form or another and these helped me through it and I fucking love these books. I may only own one of them but damn, I’ve read all three and no regrets.

Since I just lost my cat 2 months ago I am feeling the grief and thought what better time to do a post like this than now? Someone else out there might need to read this, like I need to write it, so here I am folks.  Oh and I guess I forgot to put these three on as favorite books on the last book tag… oh well. Forgive me, for I am human. 🙂

So I’ll do a review for each and state why it will break your heart but help you grieve. I’ll start with my most favorite out of them which also happens to be the one that I own.

Thirteen Reasons Why

I bought this 3 years and 21 days to the day after someone dear to me committed suicide. I thought it would help me understand what the fuck she was thinking when she did that. Because when anyone close to you does this all you want to know is why? why why??? Well, in this book it shows how even the little things that happen around someone can be a cause for making another add to why they can’t stand being around.  You see when people do wrong, and don’t bother to fix it, it all starts to add up. Well that bothered the character Hannah,  a lot.  This book shows Hannah’s story through her cassette tapes with her 13 reasons why she thought she had to commit suicide and why she did. It was completely heart aching to read because it is being inside the mind of the depressed suicidal person who is just stating why they have stopped caring because the world is fucked up and that their soul is too damn sensitive for it. So she was saying goodbye to Clay with those cassette tapes because she was going home and that was her closure and whether or not he got his closure was up to him.

So it breaks your heart because you get to see what that person was going through but helps you grieve and understand since you get to see a different perspective besides your own. Albeit it is a messed up one, it still helps.  It helped me process everything a bit better, and I also cried through the whole book which really helped too. Thirteen Reasons Why started a good healing process for me.  I feel like every time that I will pick it up I will understand it a bit more. So I couldn’t help but give it 5 stars.

I haven’t watched the Netflix original series yet but I plan to, after I reread the book, of course.

If I Stay (If I Stay, Book 1) by [Forman, Gayle]

I borrowed this one from the local library so I could read this one a few years ago when a different relative passed away. I was grieving and I wanted to see if there was a choice for the relative to stay or leave would they? I mean Mia, the character had the choice even though the rest of her family died tragically in the car accident and couldn’t ever come back, she could possibly. I was fresh from grieving and in my first year of college and I started reading this, hoping beyond hope that she would stay because if my relative could have picked, I am pretty sure they would have. You see I was heartbroken about my family and hers because neither hers nor mine was coming back so at least I could root for Mia.

I just loved how Adam would always go up to see Mia too, whenever he could. I am close to my family as well so I admire that.  I just loved this book in general and how Mia struggles with the decision on whether to stay on earth with Adam and finish out her life and dreams and goals or go and pass on to be with her family. It is about how she is grieving herself for the life that she lost with her family. It is about everything. It is such a beautiful book that is so emotional and heartbreaking because you don’t know what choice she should make but it helps you grieve because life is full of choices that are sometimes out of your hands. Like this one, because you can’t make choices for other people. I gave this book 5 stars.

Where She Went (If I Stay, Book 2) by [Forman, Gayle]

I also borrowed this book from my local library.  The lovely follow up to If I Stay.  In the follow up it shows that she stayed just not with Adam, sadly.  I know, right?! Who else loved them together? They both made large careers separately then they meet up one night and the results are interesting. This book is heartbreaking as well because Mia and Adam are still dealing with the aftermath of the accident even years later and are trying to live normal lives separately until they run into each other. Then things take a turn afterwards, this last book will help you grieve because it is always better to face your past than to run from it or trying to bury your grief because then it just becomes too much to carry or hold. Don’t be so foolish and don’t be with the wrong person just because you don’t want to be alone either ( cough Adam).  I gave this book 5 stars.

Thanks for reading this post and I hope you enjoy these books and possibly help you with your grieving process if you are grieving.

I wish you all well.

What Cats Do Tag

Here are some pictures of Buka, he passed away  2 months ago and he was almost 17 years old. He was the cutest damn thing ever with the spunkiest attitude.  He was so funny and quirky and fit right into our family and is missed every day. He loved moving around so much that it was hard to capture his picture sometimes even though he really did love his photo taken.

As cats do when they’re happy or relaxed. What is the book that makes you the happiest or relaxed?

It would have to be hands down HP as the series that makes me the happiest and relaxed and was the only one I could think of at the moment.  If I had to pick a certain one out of all of them it would be a tie between book 3, 5 and 7.

What is a book that put you to sleep or was just boring?

Fahrenheit 451: A Novel by [Bradbury, Ray]

I did read this all the way and I liked it, but if I was tired I couldn’t read it because I would fall asleep and the book would hit me in the face. 451 degree fans will probably say I deserved that but once again, I did say I liked it, just didn’t love it.

Twitch While Dreaming

Have you ever dreamt of a book you read?

Not that I can remember, no.

Seems to play nice … until the claws are out

Which book had the biggest plot twist?

Jake: Forbidden: M/M LBGT Erotica Paranormal Romance by [Barton, Kathi S]

Everything seemed like it would be a little messy, right? With a divorce but then shit hits the fan and I don’t know what’s up or down and I feel bad for the characters. Cheese and rice. I mean give him a fucking cheesecake already for dealing with this storm of a disaster. I pity a person who ends up with anyone like some of these SOB’s in here in life. Jake is a trooper, but seriously, where is his cheesecake?

Which book character would you give a hug to?

I would love to give Charlie a hug from this book. He has been through a lot and I think that every teenager needs a hug from someone safe who cares and would never hurt them in anyway possible, whether they will admit it or not. It just makes me sad that he doesn’t seem to get cared for really. Like, why?

What’s a book that made you have warm and fuzzy feels?

This book is so cute, all the books in the series are but there is just something about this one that gives you the warm and fuzzy feels. Once you read it you’ll know what I mean. Just do it!

Cat Breeds

What are your favorite books?

These are the only ones I could think of at the moment but I have so many favorite books it is not even funny.  These are just some of the classics to me that I love and tried to get some out of every genre that I could think of.

The Vet’s Office

Your least favorite book.

I had to read this in high school but I still would have disliked it had I read it on my own. I just couldn’t stand most the characters or what happened, it just made me angry to be honest. Then I had to write multiple papers on it and we spent half the year over it and that really pissed me off. So I fucking hate this book, really.

Being in Places They Shouldn’t

Least favorite cliche.

A virgin and a billionaire with a large damn age gap. Let’s come up with some different ideas , I’m not saying all the stories like these are bad but, really? There’s enough out there. Come on, be original.

The Good Old Cardboard Box

Most underrated book series.

Product DetailsProduct Details

Product Details

Now the reason I am saying this is because this series hasn’t been rated by enough people yet. Not a lot of people know about this awesome series, so it is underrated. I am currently reading the 3rd book so far and it is really cool.

Here are some #fun facts: I know the author because I started talking to him about his book series on Twitter. I also helped design the cool green color effect on the 3rd cover since our friendship started out from Twitter.  He’s a really cool guy and has a very vivid imagination.  Start Reading Now!

Thanks for reading this What Cats Do Tag and I invite and tag anyone who loves cats and would love to do this tag! Thanks again! Don’t forget to add photos of your own kitties if you’d like. Here’s a cute gif, just because…

Book Haul From Two Places (Yeah, That’s Right)

Okay so I got these four lovelies from two different places. The first set I got from The Dollar Tree and the second set of books my mom got me from a book event in Frankenmuth, Michigan.

The first book I got from The Dollar Tree :

The Queen of the Night by [Chee, Alexander]

So this one I just loved the cover, so I had to see what the story was about and it just fascinated me. It just kind of reminded me of The Phantom of the Opera even though I have never read that but have heard of it. Sadly, I was made to watch the movie in school as an assignment so I don’t have the pleasure of reading it first, but I would like to someday when I get my hands on a copy.

The second book from The Dollar Tree:

I know, I know, I did the dreaded get a book in the middle of the series thing! Someone please smack my damn wrist because I keep doing this and it’s driving me up the wall. It sounded good though, damn it all to hell, so I got it and of course it naturally has 4+ books in the series. Just. My. Luck.

So apparently they were giving out some free books at the book even where my mom and her friend Valerie went and so she got me two books.

They were both signed, however, one of the authors signed my mom’s name so I am assuming that something didn’t go right and this kind author just wrote the name from my mom’s name tag. Something must have gotten mixed up.

Here is what the author said: “Tracy, Look for the good in the stars.” – Victoria Perkins

So you see that would have been really cool if it would have been no name or my name but it has her name so I’m like what..? Anyway, it’s still fucking awesome that the author signed it, but damn. So close, yet so far…

Here is what the book looks like:

The Twelve (The Star Riders Book 1) by [Perkins, Victoria]

Isn’t the cover just beautiful and magnificent, I mean damn son. But then again I am a sucker for green and I love the detail of the wings, so they just got me here.

Second book from the book event:

Outpost 13 (Desolace Series) by [Barnes, Lucian]

This is not my fault that it is the third one in the series. I REPEAT: NOT MY FAULT. The first two books were gone. There were none left so I naturally got this one, no need to slap my wrist this time, I swear (obviously).

What the author signed into the book was badass: “In the shadows. Monsters Lurk. I am their master.” – Lucian Barnes

I mean, Damn. Damn.

There are only a few other authors I can think of at the top of my head who would say something similar but only most would know of The King.
