Book Haul: #Follow

So I went to the Goodwill in my town and found 2 books that sounded good to me. I also got this cool pillow from my aunt and thought that it would look good in the picture.

Now I’ve been wanting to read The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan for quite some time now. The other book is called Blood Fever by Veronica Wolff.

The Forest of Hands and Teeth’s blurb:

In Mary’s world there are simple truths. The Sisterhood always knows best. The Guardians will protect and serve. The Unconsecrated will never relent. And you must always mind the fence that surrounds the village; the fence that protects the village from the Forest of Hands and Teeth. But, slowly, Mary’s truths are failing her. She’s learning things she never wanted to know about the Sisterhood and its secrets, and the Guardians and their power, and about the Unconsecrated and their relentlessness. When the fence is breached and her world is thrown into chaos, she must choose between her village and her future—between the one she loves and the one who loves her. And she must face the truth about the Forest of Hands and Teeth. Could there be life outside a world surrounded by so much death?

Blood Fever’s Blurb:

It’s the start of the fall semester, and a new crop of Acari and Trainees has descended on the Isle of Night. Watcher training has intensified, and Drew has a new roommate named Mei-Ling. But Mei-Ling harbors a dangerous secret that drove the vampires to abduct her against her will. Drew knows she shouldn’t get involved, but she can’t seem to leave her roommate to fend for herself.

Luckily, Drew has other things on her mind—like vampire Carden. A blood bond to a brawny, eighteenth-century Scottish bad boy tends to preoccupy a girl. And though she’s still figuring out what this bond means, one thing has become clear: She craves him in a major way.

But then bodies start turning up on the island. All the evidence points to the existence of a rogue vampire, and the sinister vampire Alcántara is gunning for Carden, even though Drew has proof that Carden had nothing to do with the murders. Now she has to find the true killer—without endangering Carden, Mei-Ling, or herself…

APPARENTLY, Blood Fever is book 3, so I’ll have to find the first two books before I read it. Oh well. It was a good book haul. I hope you enjoyed my post and have a good afternoon!

Pulling my two heavy textbooks for this class out of the stack too, I arrange everything nicely. Just as I am getting my brand new pencils ready, I am startled by a loud bang. My desk mate drops his books on the countertop and sits down, looking at me askance.
I startle to realize that it’s the blond Greek god I ran from only yesterday. Tall and broad-shouldered, he wears his black denim and dark blue tee shirt incredibly well. He knows it too, judging by his posture. He perches on his stool and crosses his arms, expectant. Perfectly unkempt sandy blond hair, dark brows spread wide over the darkest blue eyes I’ve ever seen, a patrician nose, two incredible cheekbones, and the most expressive lips…
This guy is fucking hot, excuse my French.
Which are currently smirking at me. I knew hot guys back home in Prineville. Mostly I avoided them, truth be told. But this guy is on another level. He is so dazzling that he could work in television… and bad tv just so happens to be my weakness.
Being around this guy is enough to make me rethink the bright yellow tee shirt dress I am wearing. I want more than anything to tug the hem down and smooth my hands over my black tights, but I don’t.
Instead I blush, fumbling to introduce myself. Sticking my hand straight out and tossing my messy blonde hair back, I try for an authoritative voice. “I’m Emily Danes.”
At the front of the classroom, the professor clears his throat, ready to start talking. My eyes dart to him, but then he reaches for his bunch of tissues again. Glancing back to my partner, I see him eye me up and down in a totally unsubtle way.
At last, he leans forward and shakes my hand. His skin against mine is hot. I bite my lip, refusing to let a little thing like instant animal attraction do me in.
“I’m Wolf,” he says, his voice low and gravelly. He looks me over once more. Then he arches a brow, his smirk deepening. “Did you find all of your panties last night?”
My cheeks instantly go the exact color of a ripe tomato. I lick my lips and frown. What am I supposed to say to that?

Small Book Haul

Alright, so I was a bit naughty and got some books when I was supposed to be looking for clothes for work. I couldn’t help myself though, because these two books just stood out to me.

The first one I got from The Dollar Tree for only a dollar.

Unravel: A Novel (Fairfax Book 1) by [Read, Calia]

One kiss can change everything.

One month ago I was admitted to a psych ward. Yesterday, Lachlan told me I’m losing my mind. But I know what I saw. Will you believe me?

Behind the walls of a mental hospital, Naomi Carradine feels her world breaking to pieces. She’s starting to believe all the voices questioning her sanity. Only visitors from the outside world keep her tethered to reality. But deep in her thoughts, Naomi is haunted by memories of a golden summer that twisted into a waking nightmare of obsessive love and fractured truths.
Just home from college, Naomi moves in with her best friend, Lana, the daughter of a Virginia senator. At a lavish party thrown by Lana’s father, Naomi meets a sexy stockbroker named Max and finds herself unable to resist his charms. One fiery kiss and she’s going back for more, beginning a terrifying descent. Having witnessed the unspeakable, Naomi has only one hope of escape: unraveling the devastating secrets of her past.

The second book I got was from Volunteers of America and I only paid .60 cents for it.

Raw, animal magnetism…

…is a big red flag to prim and proper office manager Jane Morgan. After a rough childhood with a mother who liked her men in prison-jumpsuit orange, Jane changed her name, her look and her taste for bad boys. So why is she lusting for William Chase with his tattoo-covered biceps and steel-toed boots? The man blows things up for a living!

She gives herself one explosive, fantasy-filled night with Chase.

The next day it’s back to plain Jane and safe men.

But when her beloved brother becomes a murder suspect, it’s Chase who comes to her rescue. And Jane discovers that a man who’s been around the block knows a thing or two about uncovering the truth….

So these two books couldn’t be more different from each other than pie and beer. Gross combination that I just came up with in my head, I know, but I just had to get these two books. I happened to get them in this order too. I hope you enjoy my little tid bit of sharing this with you. Have a good night!

My Next Three Reads…

Hello my little Bibliofiles13ner’s ! 📚📖😍😙

So I have went to my local library and checked out some books lately and have been binge reading in between all of my doctor appointments….. and these are the three that are left.

I do plan on reviewing the ones I already read I just have to get myself to do it. Hahaha You see , it’s just that I didn’t like all the books I read, so those I am dreading to do and the ones i did like, I liked them but I don’t know what to say so I am in a unglued spine and a ripped page place as it were.

Anyway , enough about that! Let me share with you my three books. The first book I am reading.

  1. Overbite by Meg Cabot
  2. The Fire Sermon by Francesca Haig
  3. Queen of Babble by Meg Cabot

Overbite is the sequel to Insatiable by Meg Cabot.

The Fire Sermon is the first book in a trilogy by Francesca Haig.

Queen of Babble is also the first book in a trilogy, I believe by Meg Cabot.

So far Overbite is pretty good, although I will see what is to come because I am not very far in it.

Also I must post the book haul I got from my goodwill and from my library. I just couldn’t resist. I’m terrible that way. 😬😣😆

I hope all of you have a wonderful day and evening wherever you are!

Here’s To… Books That Are Short And Good — Yeah, Another Blogger

Fourteen months ago I wrote a piece (click here) about my successful attempt to re-enter the world of book-reading after a two-year hiatus from same. I’d taken baby steps, no doubt about it, but the two books I’d read at that point during 2017 (Henry Beston’s The Outermost House and Penelope Fitzgerald’s The Means Of […]

I think that this post was worth mentioning. I’m sorry I haven’t been on here in a while, I do plan on posting something about my latest book author trip to Ohio. I don’t know when, but I will.  I have some things I have to do first.

Thank you for being patient and for reading my blog.

I adore you guys, I hope you enjoy this post. 😊

Guest Post By Jason Parent: Top 20 Stephen King Books

Everyone knows Stephen King is the master of horror, but which of his works is his best? Those I hear cited most are: The Shining, The Stand, Salem’s Lot, and It. Though one of these takes my number one spot, I think you’ll find my rankings differ greatly from the hive mind, and some books are notably missing.

Despite the polarized climate of social media, I am going to throw my rankings out there. This is just one humble author’s opinions, and I don’t assert them as any better or correct than yours, though I do encourage healthy discourse on the merit of these works that so many of us have read and enjoyed.

This list includes all of his fiction titles (including the Bachman books) except Duma Key and Full Dark, No Stars, both of which I’m told are excellent but are still in my TBR pile, and the two novels co-authored with Straub. So without further ado:

  1. The Running Man

  1. Needful Things

  1. Night Shift

  1. Salem’s Lot

  1. Carrie

  1. The Dark Tower: The Wind Through the Keyhole

  1. Everything’s Eventual

  1. Delores Claiborne

  1. Thinner

  1. Pet Sematary

  1. Misery

  1. 11/22/63

  1. The Green Mile

  1. The Dark Half

  1. It

  1. Skeleton Crew

  1. The Shining

  1. The Dark Tower IV: Wizard and Glass

  1. The Dead Zone

  1. The Stand

Up until my recent re-reading, It was a very close second to the The Stand, but perhaps it lost some of its magic in the re-read and in my older age. Also, King may very well be the best short story writer ever to publish in the English language, so other collections sit on the peripheral of this list.

At the other end of the spectrum, I’d list Christine and From a Buick 8, as well as The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, Blaze, and Revival, with the caveat that Revival had an awesome ending.

So that’s my list. What say you?

About The Author

An image posted by the author.

In his head, Jason Parent lives in many places, but in the real world, he calls New England his home. The region offers an abundance of settings for his writing and many wonderful places in which to write them. He currently resides in Rhode Island.

In a prior life, Jason spent most of his time in front of a judge . . . as a civil litigator. When he wanted a change, he traded in his cheap suits for flip flops and designer stubble. The flops got repossessed the next day, and he’s back in the legal field . . . sorta. But that’s another story.

When he’s not working, Jason likes to kayak, catch a movie, and travel any place that will let him enter. And read and write, of course–he does that too sometimes.

The book I was given as an ARC was What Hides WithinWhich was his debut book, but this is a new cover. . What Hides Within by [Parent, Jason]I personally think that this cover definitely matches the story’s creepy/horror factor. The King would be proud. My review for this will be up for tomorrow. I loved it by the way, even though I hate spiders with a burning vengeance. Nasty little things. Cue scrunched up face.

Here is a link to his book and what it is about:

I think everyone should check this book out.

So Readers! What do you say about his preference of Kings books? Do you agree? What do you think of his book ?  Let me know in the comment section below!

“Good Morning Malibu, it’s another beautiful day on the west coast! I’m Noely Clark, your host: and I’m in the market for love…”

When the publicity team of the new local restaurant, Going in Blind, began their search for a hot, local celebrity to promote the wildly popular eatery, they couldn’t have found a better person than me.

Outgoing? Check.

Single? Check.

Open to finding love? Check.

I signed up immediately.

A hopeless romantic with an exceedingly demanding schedule, I’ve found it impossible to find the man of my dreams—so Going in Blind seems too good to be true! That’s until they start setting me up on dates—three very different, very attractive, very distinct blind dates—and only one thing is for certain . . .

I’m in big trouble.

Good Morning Malibu,

I’m Noely Clark, and I have a choice to make.

The question is who will I choose; the suit, the rebel, or the jock.

What choice would YOU  make?

Current and Next Reads

reading rainbow 3

Hello everybody ! 😁

So I wanted to share what I’ve been reading and what I will read next. I figured that I should do a post like this since  I haven’t posted something like this in awhile. I also I hope all of y’all are reading great books in a warm place ! I’ve been reading in my big comfy recliner with blankets and fuzzy socks or all curled up in bed.

📖 Currently Reading 📖

This is an eARC and I am actually 3/4 of the way done with this collection and I absolutely adore it. I talk to the author Cat on Twitter about her books and the characters in them whenever I read her books. She’s  amazing ! 💖

EVEREST Ebook Cover

This is also an eARC and it has so many things going on that I just love. There are twists that just pull the floor from under you, not the rug – the fucking floor. I’m 3/4 of the way done with this book as well and I really hope things end well. Fingers crossed readers ! 😰😲😶🤐😯😮😱

This is the eARC  that I got and asked y’all if you’d like to read and review it as well. I’m not very far in it, but so far it’s bloody brilliant! 😂

📚 TBR / Next Reads 📚

This eARC hasn’t been given to me yet and so I don’t know what it looks like and no one does. The book hasn’t been revealed yet and I’m excited to see what it looks like so I used a photo that was made and the author has on her Twitter.

I am pretty excited to read this horror story and Mark is a really cool guy so I think his story will reflect that. This is also an eARC.

Okay so this eARC is kind of special. I got it from a website called Authors x Promotion Books (AxP) . This is where you can get emails about reviewing books and book promotions.  There is a regular sign-up then there are Elite readers that do special things for the authors. That’s what this book is a part of. I read and review it for him. He was a sweetheart and also gave me a physical copy all the way from the UK. I am extremely excited to read this because the blurb sounds fascinating! 😄🙆

So that is what I am up to and what I will be up to. I am really excited to see how all these books turn out! Let me know if you guys want to read these as well! Have you heard of AxP Books before? Will you look it up now that I’ve talked about it? What are some of your current and/or next reads?

We adopted a cat names Tweeks a few days ago and I thought you guys might like to see a picture. We thought it was time after Buka had passed away and the house had been too empty for a couple of months. She is really sassy and affectionate.

Until next time ! PEACE.
